Somerset Jewel

Another factor in choosing the Walnut Tree hotel occurred when when I wrote to the local Vicar to enquire if she knew of anyone who could assist me with local research. She wrote back immediately and recommend a local family history researcher who might be able to assist me in my North Petherton area quest. Sue Law wrote back immediately via email, and though she did not know how she could best help me, she was willing to give it a try.

And try she did. She did an amazing job of making me feel at home, introducing me to her home area, driving me to area villages, museums, research libraries, natural areas, and sites of uncommon beauty and importance. Having this friendly, knowledgeable companion to guide me in the Benefice of the Alfred Jewel, even though we are, as she says “non-conformers”, was, for me and my research, a miracle of immense scale.
